Backhand Power Slice.
Tennis Lesson
To change from a soft, slow and harmless ball into a fast skidding aggressive shot we have to change the angle of the swing of the racket.
This can be complex and take a lot of repetition.
Try this simple method and make it easier and quicker to develop a slice backhand that is feared and respected.
Leave the tennis court and imagine that we are by a river and trying to “Skim Stones” bouncing them across the water. Now imagine doing this throwing the stones from the left “backhand” side of the body.
You will not throw these stones down, you will throw them out, just above the water.
Back on the tennis court,. Make the normal take back.
The racket is above the ball
The left hand is on the throat of the racket
And the racket is slightly “Open”
Now instead of swinging down, throw your arm forwards as though you were “Skimming Stones” across water!
The Ball will still have slice (Because of the slightly open racket face) but it will also be fast and powerful.
This motion of swinging out into the court instead of down is fundamental in changing your slice backhand into a weapon.
Add “Skim the Stones” to your game and enjoy seeing your opponents scramble to reach your laser fast Slice Backhand
