Become an All Court Player.
Tennis Lesson
To reach our potential as tennis players, it is important to use all of the court.
But to do this we need to understand three things:
For most players, if they are comfortable and playing the ball inside the court – then it is a great opportunity to move forwards.
Do not look at your stroke and then decide to attack, your decision is made by where you are comfortable playing the ball from.
As you approach the net, follow the ball that you have just hit.
This is essential. Do not just head to the middle of the court.
This results in the best possible position to cover passing shots.
The split step timing is really important.
Try to time your split step with the time when your ball bounces on the other side of the net.
Traditional advice is to split when the opponent hits the ball.
However, when moving forwards the split step takes fractionally more time because of the forward momentum.
Therefore, if you split step a little earlier, then the landing of the movement is almost always perfect.
