Do Not watch the ball.
Tennis Lesson
“Watch the Ball”
Have you ever heard that said on a tennis court?
This is a stupid question as those words are echoed on tennis courts all over the world, initially from coahes and then later from players as they berate themselves for repeatedly miss-hitting.
Telling yourself or someone else to watch the ball is actually a complete waste of time.
Instead of saying watch the ball, just “Just Do It”
To initiate this, get a piece of tape, or blue tack, anything that is sticky and attach it to the middle of the racket.
Then go and play!
That’s it!
You really don’t need to think about anything, simply because the mind will immediately try to make a collision between the incoming ball and the object on the tennis racket.
Instead of having awareness only of the ball, you will have an awereness of the ball and the centre of the racket, as you make a succesful collision again and again by not watching the ball.
